About the position Inova Central Lab is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC (LTA 2 PSC) to join the team. This is a full-time, float position with variable hours, potentially including Saturdays. The LTA float will be responsible for covering sites, primarily in primary care or OB offices in the Fairfax, Falls Church & Annandale area. They may also float to other supervisor territories in Northern Virginia if needed. The work location is communicated the day before but is subject to change. Responsibilities • Manage specimen accessioning and processing accurately/efficiently to provide quality specimens for Laboratory testing. • Perform proper specimen and/or blood products collections by confirming patient/donor identification, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture/capillary techniques and accurately labeling the specimens/blood products to ensure accurate patient results. • Performing registration and reviewing billing information accurately/efficiently in order to ensure regulatory compliance. • Provide excellent patient and customer service by using AIDET principles and ensuring the correctness/quality of technical information/directions provided to customers is appropriate. • Traveling to assigned facilities and working seamlessly with teams to complete duties. • Ensure that all specimens received are done so accurately and prioritizes specimens after collections or as they arrive in the lab. Requirements • High School diploma or GED equivalent • Completion of Phlebotomy training required: completion certification from a Phlebotomy program or another Allied Health Training program, such as Medical Assistant, MLT or MT. • Three years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment, laboratory or physician office environment including two years of phlebotomy experience and registration experience. • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Nice-to-haves • Accurately and efficiently performing specimen accessioning and processing to ensure the integrity of specimens for laboratory testing. • Collecting specimens using venipuncture and capillary techniques, selecting the appropriate collection tubes, and accurately labeling specimens.
