White Lotus Interactive has come out of stasis and is hard at work developing a new first person atmospheric adventure game. The world we are making is full of wondrous, inviting yet exotic plant life, mysterious ancient ruins, and charming gameplay moments.
We’re looking for a seasoned tech artist to help bring this world to life - someone who can independently and collaboratively apply their technical expertise and creativity to our game. If you are someone who values human ingenuity and craftsmanship, has a knack for solving creative and technical problems, and wants to work with a team of driven individuals on a genuine video game, take a look at our past work and see if it vibes with ya.
What you’ll do here:
• Independently create new and improve existing environment assets with established and newly developed pipelines
• Support other artists with new tools and techniques
• Make improvements to rendering based on player and team feedback and goals
• Document findings for the rest of the team
Required:
• Very strong general Unreal Engine experience
• Blog / portfolio with tech art examples
• Ability to integrate art into gameplay, EG: blueprints
• Familiarity with creating stylized environment assets in Blender
• Ability to “switch gears” between tech and art
• Comfortable working with both organic and hard surface techniques
Bonus:
• Interest in pushing stylized art techniques
• 3d modeling chops
• VFX, especially stylized / novel stuff
• Support tools / pipeline development: Blender scripts, UE scripted actions / utility widgets, etc
• Technical animation experience
• Profiling and optimization experience
• Good understanding of shader / material concepts
• Foliage asset experience
Nice to have:
• Worked on a shipped title, especially in a technical role
• Portfolio full of stylized art
• Experience working on first person perspective games
• Interest in independent / artsy fartsy games
Benefits
• Opportunity to work closely with a tiny team on a big project
• Contract position with flexible hours. Studio is based in Arizona (MST GMT-7)
• Fully remote (unless you wanna come hang out in AZ!)
• A monthly stipend and revshare opportunities
Process / How to apply:
Fill out the form with your contact info, resume, portfolio, and a few basic questions. Once we have received your application, we may contact you for a video interview with the team.
A paid art test may be part of the process - this would be a short (1-2 days) task directly related to our project.
This is an ongoing remote friendly contract position. We anticipate working on this project for at least a year. Both full or part-time commitments are considered - we are looking to grow the team organically.
