The County of Sonoma is seeking an HR Coordinator to join their dynamic Public Infrastructure team. This role involves providing technical and administrative support for various HR functions including recruitment, training, and employee relations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Human Resources/Safety Administrative Services Officer II (ASO) and Department Analyst on the SPI HR Team with technical and administrative support for department-wide recruitment, training, safety, disability management, payroll, and employee relations efforts
- Grow strong working relationships and assist colleagues to better understand their needs and strengths
- Research rules, regulations, and best practices to assist in the development of special and long-term administrative projects, policies, and procedures
- Coordinate and schedule interviews, conduct reference checks, coordinate pre-employment background checks, and maintain personnel files and records
- Review and enter records into our Applicant Tracking and Learning Management Systems (NEOGOV and Saba, respectively)
- Coordinate and attend safety meetings and assist with the department safety training program
- Help to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Brown Act
- Cross-train on payroll-related functions and learn how to coordinate leaves of absences and how to request medical examinations for prospective employees
Skills

- Experience related to general administration, accounting, budgetary analysis, or human resources work including the compilation, tabulation, analysis, and presentation of statistical and narrative written reports
- Any combination of course work and training that would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed
- Academic course work in public administration, business administration, management, accounting, political science, economics, statistics, English composition, psychology or closely related courses
- Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California
- Knowledge of administrative techniques and principles of organization, accounting, budget and human resources administration
- Techniques and practices of research methodology, data collection, and preliminary analysis
- Report writing
- Application and use of basic statistics
- Interview techniques sufficient to obtain information related to employment and administrative matters
