Description of Work Work in this professional Nurse Consultant I/Investigator classification involves performing regulatory activities to determine compliance with state and/or federal Medicare/Medicaid requirements for unlicensed health care personnel in various healthcare facilities. Position is home-based and works independently under the supervision of a regional supervisor within the Complaint Intake and Health Care Personnel Registry Investigations Section. Primary duties include: Conducting independent administrative investigations of unlicensed health care workers in a variety of health care settings for the NC Nurse Aide I Registry and/or Health Care Personnel Registry. Investigations require on-site and in-office documentation using computer and database access. Position testifies frequently in administrative hearings. Requires frequent travel (including some overnights) and lifting/carrying of laptop computer, and other equipment. The position is based in the Southeastern Region of the state and individual must reside in one of the following Central counties: Caswell, Person, Granville, Vance, Alamance, Orange, Durham, Franklin, Wake, or Chatham. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $62,044 - $102,371 Recruitment Range: $62,044 - $78,500 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred. Strong clinical background, including considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease process and body systems, and current clinical diagnostic procedures and treatments. Demonstrated ability to use computer technology and complete work assignments electronically. Demonstrated skills communicating effectively (both verbally and in writing), and electronically document information assessed/collected in a clear and concise manner, using objective and evidence-based decision-making skills. Demonstrated critical thinking skills to conduct, review, gather, assess, and evaluate information for compliance with applicable standards. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and effectively multitask. Must possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a vehicle, adapt to schedule changes, and travel as required. This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date The Division of Health Service Regulation oversees medical, mental health and adult care facilities, emergency medical services, and local jails.
