Are you passionate about maps, spatial data, and solving real-world problems with GIS? Steel Shire Design is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented GIS Technician to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their GIS career to gain hands-on experience in the pipeline and energy industry while working alongside experienced analysts and developers.
About the Role
As a GIS Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting our team's mapping and data management workflows. You'll work in ArcGIS Pro to maintain spatial data, support pipeline and right-of-way mapping projects, and help manage landowner documents, permits, and agreements. You'll report to our GIS Manager and collaborate with a tight-knit team of GIS professionals.
What You'll Do
• Enter, edit, and maintain geospatial data in ArcGIS Pro
• Support pipeline and right-of-way mapping projects from start to finish
• Help organize and manage landowner documents, permits, and agreements
• Run spatial queries and produce maps for clients and internal teams
• Maintain geodatabases and perform quality assurance checks
• Contribute to process documentation and workflow improvements
What We're Looking For
Required:
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience
• Foundational understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data
• Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro
• Strong attention to detail — accuracy matters in our work
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Solid communication skills (written and verbal)
Nice to Have:
• SQL experience for querying and managing databases
• Python scripting skills for GIS automation
• Exposure to pipeline, utility, or energy industry projects
• Experience with geodatabase management

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
