The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
• *Responsibilities**
As a member of the team, you will:
Coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries with commercial carriers to support multiple programs. Apply general knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements for obtaining quotes and selection of carriers to meet federal, state, and local customer requirements. Collaborate with customers and other work groups as needed to plan and schedule outbound shipments to meet customer ship dates.
Collaborate with the import/export office to ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR laws. Support planning meetings with customers and operations groups at multiple NASA centers in preparation for hardware and equipment transport. Ensure oversized inbound and outbound shipments are permitted to travel from point of origin to destination, and they interface with receiving dock personnel to support the documenting of damaged freight shipments as well as coordinate with commercial carriers and procurement personnel to document the damaged freight for reimbursement.
Complete required training and utilize safety equipment to perform duties to include Electrostatic Discharge, Working at Heights, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Tracks work plans and schedules, performs risk analysis, and identifies/resolves critical path and shipping conflicts. Utilizes scheduling tools available for tracking shipments for multiple customers.
Ensures management is aware of scheduled shipment dates across multiple programs and identifies any areas of concern to stay ahead of shipping delays. Performs complex tasks requiring expertise and judgment to accomplish long-range planning of programs and objectives and applies appropriate regulations, policies, precedents, methods, and techniques. Evaluates customer shipping requirements and ensures commercial carriers secured to support the work can comply with requirements.
Schedules and conducts pre-ship reviews with internal and external customers to ensure planned shipments meet customer and federal requirements. Communicates status of shipments through delivery at destination. Obtains required certifications and completes training required to perform job duties.
Properly utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) to complete field work as required. Reviews, understands, and complies with department, contract, and customer requirements in performance of job duties. Supports development of process metrics to track efficiency and health of processes and conducts process reviews to ensure team compliance.
Works across all areas to address deficiencies and implement corrective actions to avoid process delays. Participates in database reviews suggesting necessary updates to increase process efficiency. Demonstrates positive attitude and compliance with all requirements.
Consistently demonstrates appreciation of all team members by recognizing employees for superior performance.
• *Qualifications
• Eight years of experience in areas such as management analysis, schedule analysis, and project control functions.
• Must have a valid US Driver's License.
• *Physical Requirement
• May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
• Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
• *Work Environment
• May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
• Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
• Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
• Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
