K-38 Consulting is seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to support one of our construction industry clients through a significant growth phase.
This engagement requires a strategic finance leader with deep construction industry experience. We are not looking for a controller, bookkeeper, or accountant. We need a CFO-level professional who has successfully helped construction companies scale, optimize capital structures, improve financial visibility, and support executive decision-making.
The Opportunity
Our client is a rapidly growing commercial and industrial contractor operating across multiple states. The company has experienced substantial growth and is preparing for its next stage of expansion.
The organization operates with strong values, maintains a healthy balance sheet, and has ambitious long-term growth objectives. Leadership is seeking a strategic financial partner who can provide guidance on capital allocation, tax strategy, organizational structure, and financial planning.
Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic advisor to ownership and executive leadership
Develop long-term financial planning and growth strategies
Provide guidance on capital structure and balance sheet optimization
Identify opportunities to leverage financial resources to support expansion
Lead cash flow forecasting, financial modeling, and scenario planning
Develop KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting tools
Advise on acquisition readiness and growth initiatives
Provide proactive tax planning recommendations
Evaluate and recommend corporate and entity structure strategies
Support banking, lending, and capital relationships
Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning sessions
Help strengthen financial processes and accountability across the organization
Required Qualifications
Based in the United States
Proven Fractional CFO or CFO experience
Significant experience working with construction companies
Experience supporting construction organizations with $100M+ annual revenue
Demonstrated success helping companies scale through periods of rapid growth
Strong understanding of:
Construction accounting and job costing
Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
Cash flow management
Bonding and banking relationships
Multi-state operations
Capital planning
Strategic tax planning
Experience advising executive leadership teams and business owners
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting organizations scaling toward $250M-$300M+ in revenue
M&A experience, including acquisition evaluation and integration planning
Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System)
Experience building executive dashboards and KPI frameworks
Strong background in strategic planning and organizational growth
