Position Type: 1099 Independent Contractor Duration: 2 days only (July 13 and July 14) Location: Palo Alto, CA; Fully onsite Pay: $550 for 2 days Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and autonomous Facilities Specialist to provide critical operational coverage for our onsite facility while our primary resource is out of the office. This is a short-term, 2-day independent contractor (1099) assignment. Because of the brief duration of this coverage, we need a seasoned professional with a strong facilities background who can step in on day one with zero hand-holding. You will be responsible for keeping the facility clean, safe, and fully functional, handling basic hands-on maintenance, and ensuring current operations run smoothly without interruption. Key Responsibilities • Conduct daily routine facility walk-throughs across the building and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and functional work environment while promptly reporting any discovered maintenance or safety hazards. • Ensure the entire facility remains highly organized, presentable, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. • Communicate regularly with the central operations team to ensure any urgent facility or building issues are properly escalated and resolved. • Coordinate and monitor any active on-site facility maintenance work being performed by external vendors, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general repairs. • Perform urgent, hands-on maintenance tasks as they arise, such as replacing light bulbs, fixing hardware, adjusting furniture, or troubleshooting simple equipment issues. • Verify the successful completion and quality of any vendor work performed during the coverage period before signing off on service delivery. • Maintain accurate, temporary facility service logs and notes to ensure a seamless hand-off back to the primary team member. • Provide immediate, on-site support for special workplace setups or office moves as required during the shift. Qualifications & Requirements • Contract Status: Must be available to work immediately as an independent contractor under a 1099 tax classification for a strict 2-day duration. • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience as a Facilities Specialist, Facility Coordinator, or hands-on Corporate Building Superintendent. • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively update remote operations teams and manage on-site vendors. • Problem Solving: Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work completely independently with minimal supervision. • Education & Credentials: A BS/BA in facility management, engineering, or a related field is preferred, and an FMP (Facility Management Professional) certification is a strong plus.
