**Job Summary**
As a Customer Service Representative in our Patient Financial Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive timely and accurate billing and collection services. You will be responsible for resolving patient billing concerns, implementing collection policies and procedures, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients and their families.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Accurately post data (payments, adjustments) as needed
* Communicate problems hindering work flow to management
* Resolve patient billing and third party payer concerns
* Interview and counsel patients for payment arrangements and/or charity assistance
* Answer patient questions quickly, accurately, and courteously
* Accurately identify and screen Medicare charity within established guidelines
* Rebills accounts as necessary
* Work with patients to resolve account balances
**Minimum Qualifications**
* High school diploma or equivalent
* One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
* One (1) year previous customer service experience
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience in patient financial services or billing and collections
* Knowledge of medical terminology and ICS-9 and CPT coding
* Specialized courses or seminars in collections, medical field, or hospital business office setting
* General knowledge of third party payers, collection laws, and collection procedures
**Skills and Competencies**

* Ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with others
* Demonstrated customer service relations
* Analytical skills necessary for problem solving
* Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Act
* Working knowledge of computer, including Microsoft Word and Excel
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate to all patients per the established age-specific education/standard
* Maintains current knowledge of Medicare reimbursement process and audit regulations
* Understands the UB92/1500 bill forms contents and EOMB's
* Ability to understand written and oral communication
**Work Environment**
* Exposed to high stress and constant interruptions
* Normal business office surroundings
**Physical Requirements**
* Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing duties throughout the work shift
* Visual acuity must be within normal range
* Must be able to exert in excess of 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
* Must have manual dexterity to operate keyboards, fax machines, telephones, and other business equipment
