**Job Summary:**
As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product. You'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, carrier development teams, and other stakeholders to analyze carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and support carrier service issues. Your expertise will be essential in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy that drives sales growth and yield enhancement.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Execute strategies to increase ocean volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to our preferred network
* Assist in implementing pricing programs and reviewing volume targets to ensure alignment with business objectives
* Work closely with the MD of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables
* Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
* Gather, analyze, and report information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required
* Collaborate with the MD of Ocean, regional ocean management team, and marketing to promote the ocean product and develop external and internal communications
* Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
* Support sales and operations as needed, providing expertise on ocean product development and implementation
**Essential Qualifications:**
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., international business, logistics, supply chain management)
* At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing
* Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
* Strong business acumen, with a focus on driving growth and yield enhancement
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
* Experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of driving business growth and development
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions
