About the Role
We're seeking an experienced professional to join our IT Data Governance team as a Team Lead. In this role, you'll play a critical part in shaping American Airlines' data culture and driving the adoption of data governance best practices across the organization. As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and make a tangible impact on our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and rollout of American Airlines' Data Governance capabilities
- Design and maintain workflows, standards, processes, policies, and procedures to support data governance
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to enable data governance and data quality standards
- Work closely with the Data Governance Leadership Board to define and track key metrics and KPIs for each capability
- Research, review, recommend, and implement new software solutions to support data governance
- Automate data governance processes and workflows using industry-leading tools and technologies
- Serve as the product owner for data governance products and capabilities
- Act as the ambassador and primary promoter for data governance across the organization
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis and/or data governance
- Experience implementing at least one data governance capability in an organization
- Strong understanding of data governance concepts, including data stewardship, data quality, and metadata management
- Experience working with business intelligence tools, data lakes, and data warehouses
- Knowledge of SQL and data analytics concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology)
- Experience with change management, identifying downstream data impacts for regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP)
- Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments
- Background in the airline, travel, or hospitality industry
