**About the Role**
As a Staff Data Scientist, you'll be the technical lead for all data science-related work within the Data Ventures team. Your primary focus will be on Customer Data Science initiatives, which may be short-term or long-term depending on business needs. You'll work closely with junior colleagues, mentor them, and implement best practices throughout the team.
**Key Responsibilities**
* **Data Source Identification**: Identify relevant data sources, define data requirements, and extract data for analysis. Perform preliminary data quality checks and provide guidance to junior colleagues.
* **Problem Formulation**: Analyze business problems, challenge assumptions, and recommend solutions. Develop data analytics, machine learning, and automation goals, and outline key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness.
* **Analytical Modeling**: Select suitable modeling strategies for complex problems with large-scale, multiple structured and unstructured data sets. Develop variables and features iteratively based on model responses in collaboration with the business.
* **Model Deployment & Scaling**: Work with MLOps to deploy machine learning models to production. Continuously log and track model performance against described metrics, and identify model parameters that may need adjustments based on scale of deployment.
* **Code Development & Testing**: Write code to develop the specified solution and application capabilities, using the right programming language and leveraging business, technical, and data requirements.
* **Applied Business Acumen**: Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives. Influence business stakeholder decision-making, translate business requirements into strategies, projects, and initiatives, and drive the execution of deliverables.
* **Model Assessment & Validation**: Identify and review model assessment metrics based on analytical requirements. Apply appropriate strategies for model testing and tuning to evaluate accuracy, fit, validity, and robustness.
* **Data Visualization and Storytelling**: Identify and recommend the most appropriate visualization tools based on context. Generate suitable graphical representations of data and model outcomes. Understand customer requirements to design suitable data representation for complex data sets and drive User Experience designers and User Interface engineers to build the front-end applications.
**What You'll Bring**
* Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
* Deep knowledge and understanding of machine learning, statistics, and data science in general.
* Strong programming skills in at least one of Python/R.
* Ability to execute projects end-to-end, including junior colleagues.
* Implement best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, etc.
* Clearly communicate with business, product, and application partners.
* Ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations into simple language.
* Ability to present to management, including external clients.
