As a Data Engineer in our Customer Service team, you'll play a critical role in helping us deliver an exceptional experience to our members, leveraging data to drive insights and inform our product development.
**The Role**
In this exciting role, you'll collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and business owners to build reliable, scalable data pipelines that transform raw data into core business metrics. You'll work with custom visualization tools to surface critical insights that inform our customer service investments, ensuring a delightful and efficient experience for our members. With a small team, you'll require a high degree of autonomy, strong technical judgment, and the ability to span across the data stack, from pipeline development to business metrics and tools.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Design and develop reliable, scalable data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records)
* Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and business owners to build data-driven solutions that inform customer service investments
* Develop and maintain custom visualization tools to surface critical insights and inform business decisions
* Work with data scientists and analysts to design and implement data models that meet business needs
* Develop and maintain advanced SQL skills and advocate for data quality
* Analyze business problems and prioritize autonomously to drive data-driven solutions
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including analysts, engineers, and business leaders
**Essential Qualifications**
* At least 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records)
* Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design structures that are adaptable to changes in the source data or business processes
* Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code
* Advanced SQL skills, with a focus on data quality and advocacy
* Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through business problems and prioritize autonomously
* Strong communication and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively with analysts, engineers, and business leaders
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
* Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL tools (e.g. Informatica, Talend)
* Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
* Strong understanding of data governance and data quality principles
* Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment

**Compensation and Benefits**
arenaflex offers a competitive compensation structure, with an annual salary range of $170,000 - $720,000. You'll also have the opportunity to choose how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
