Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support database activity requirements and ensure the efficient storage and retrieval of data
- Investigate and resolve common database issues, performing disaster recovery tasks as needed
- Perform routine database maintenance activities, including file maintenance, backup and recovery, and SQL job management
- Optimize database performance, using knowledge of database sizing and performance tuning practices
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring that all database systems are well-documented and easily accessible
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions, using SQL and other database technologies
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to continuously improve database systems and processes
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent education and work experience
- Strong knowledge of SQL database systems, including database design, development, and administration
- Experience with performing routine database maintenance activities, including backup and recovery, and SQL job management
- Ability to investigate and resolve common database issues, performing disaster recovery tasks as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS SQL technology, including database design, development, and administration
- Ability to develop PowerShell scripts, using knowledge of scripting languages and automation tools
- Experience with SQL AOG and database mirroring, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of database security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption
- Experience with agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
- Strong understanding of data modeling and database design principles, including data normalization and denormalization
