About the Role
As a Data Science Manager at Instagram, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing data-driven strategies to improve the overall performance of Instagram's products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze data trends, identify opportunities, and drive product strategy. Your expertise in data analysis, statistical evaluation, and causal inference will help inform product decisions and optimize the user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing Goal Metrics and Evaluating Product Team Performance: Create and track key metrics to measure product success and evaluate the performance of product teams.
- Investigating Ad Hoc Issues and Debugging Regressions: Identify and resolve data-related issues, and debug regressions to ensure the smooth operation of Instagram's products.
- Develop Testing Plans and Validate Statistically Accurate Results: Design and implement testing plans to validate the accuracy of data and ensure statistically significant results.
- Reporting to Instagram and Meta Stakeholders and Coordination Across the Company: Communicate complex data insights to stakeholders and coordinate with teams across the company to drive product decisions.
- Analyze Data Trends to Identify Opportunities and Drive Product Strategy: Analyze data trends to identify opportunities for growth and inform product strategy.
- Size Possibilities to Ensure Product Teams are Prioritizing the Maximum Impactful Work: Collaborate with product teams to prioritize projects based on data-driven insights.
- Ensure Product Method has Actionable Dimension Plans: Develop and implement dimension plans to track product performance and inform product decisions.
- Determine Methods to Apply Statistics as a Strategic Asset in Product Development: Identify opportunities to leverage data as a strategic asset in product development.
- Partner with Data Engineering to Ensure Proper Metrics are Created and Validate Accuracy: Collaborate with Data Engineering to ensure the creation of accurate and relevant metrics.
- Oversee the Building/Preserving of Reports, Dashboards, and Metrics: Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to track product performance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in managing different group contributors in a formal or informal capacity.
- Experience launching and using initiatives to completion with minimum guidance.
- Experience communicating complex data insights to an executive audience.
- Experience in related and unrelated ranking, with a focus on Instagram Ranking DS group.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of statistical evaluation and causal inference in an experimentation setting.
- Experience working with large data sets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
