Description:
The Engineering & Procurement Manager is responsible for leading engineering and design and executing long-lead/complex procurement for Solar PV projects ranging from 1-20MW DC with budgets of approximately $3-$20M. This role ensures engineering deliverables comply with contractual requirements, company standards and all applicable codes/standards, while also owning the sourcing, negotiation, expediting, and supplier performance for critical equipment and materials needed to meet project schedule, quality and cost commitments.
Main Responsibilities:
· Lead Engineering partners through all phases of design
· Manage Critical Procurement scopes for long-lead materials
· Manage Prebid Engineering and Procurement Duties
· Coordinate interdepartmental design reviews to comply with internal standards and Value Engineering
Other Responsibilities:
• Manage engineering changes, RFIs, and technical clarifications with disciplined scope control and documentation.
• Coordinate with third-party engineers of record (EOR), consultants, and utilities/AHJ to support permits, reviews, and technical approvals.
• Ensure engineering documentation is complete for turnover: commissioning packages, O&M documentation, and as-built closeout.
• Manage supplier performance: on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, document/submittal compliance, and corrective actions.
• Serve as the technical and procurement bridge between Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Commissioning, Quality, and Finance
• Support value engineering and cost optimization without compromising compliance, reliability, or contract requirements.
• Develop and maintain a Long-Lead Procurement Register (lead times, decision dates, submittals, logistics, delivery milestones).
• Partner with Director of Preconstruction & Director of Project Management to align engineering deliverables and procurement activities to the master schedule (engineering dates, procurement decision points, delivery windows).
· Review owner provided designs for accuracy during bidding phase
· Draft SLD’s and Site layouts for proposals
Requirements:
· Flexibility to travel to project locations and home office as needed
· Minimum 5 years of Solar Engineering and Design Experience
· Possess necessary communication skills to professionally interface with subcontractors and clients
· Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating EOR/consultants.
· Familiarity with interconnection-driven requirements (utility coordination, protection, metering, communications, PPC/SCADA).
· Experience with logistics for large equipment (transformers/switchgear), including packaging, inspections, and delivery readiness.
· Maintain a professional appearance at all times
· Skilled in MSOffice and versed in AutoCAD
· Strong understanding of National Electric Code
· NABCEP certification
