About This Role
We are a pre-seed stage consumer hardware company in the children's wellness and educational space. We are hiring a freelance embedded Linux engineer to support prototype development of a physical interactive device. Full product details will be shared after an NDA is signed.
Skills and Experience Required
Embedded Linux development (Raspberry Pi Compute Module or equivalent SBC in a production or near-production context)
Display pipeline experience -- framebuffer, HDMI, DSI, video playback
Audio output integration -- I2S DAC or USB audio
Ability to contribute to prototype BOM and translate toward a production-ready design
Experience working with or alongside contract manufacturers (China preferred)
Strong Bonus
Consumer electronics or toy industry background
Familiarity with ASTM F963 / CPSC compliance considerations
Digital signage, kiosk, or interactive display project history
What to Expect
Phase 1 covers prototype scoping and build. Phase 2 (separate engagement) covers CM transition and production design support. This is a long-term relationship for the right person.

A mutual NDA must be signed before any product details are discussed. This is non-negotiable and applies to all candidates.
