Director of Supply Chain
While working under the VP of Operations, the Director of Supply Chain will have overall responsibility for global inventory control and supply chain operations. Leads strategic initiatives within supply chain balancing speed, efficiency, high quality and reduced costs. This position develops and implements inventory control processes, manages and maintains master data for vendor, material and pricing information, as well as provides reporting and analysis with a team of analysts. The position is instrumental in developing strategies and transforming the procurement organization into a high performing function.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Essential Functions:
• Supply Chain Planning resource familiar with best practices planning principles, using Netsuite ERP as the planning tool.
• MRP planning and Demand Management
• Ensure a stable and on time supply chain with optimal inventory levels
• Oversee the Planning, scheduling, release, and expediting of purchase orders.
• Oversee and maintain accurate material master data within Netsuite business system.
• Oversee and manage all aspects of global production Supply Chain and Logistics functions.
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Finance teams to drive deeper visibility and reporting into global Supply Chain performance.
• Generate and distribute regular dashboard reports highlighting KPIs, potential risks, recommendations, and action plans.
• Develop and maintain reports to monitor and manage inventory levels; analyze and coordinate variables including component stock levels, production / delivery lead-time, back orders, and order fill rate. Efficiently manage competing demands to optimize the supply chain and meet business needs.
• Manage accurate cost budgets on all inventories and services; maintain credible look-forward systems to project future costs. Monitor trends and opportunities, advise cross-departmental leadership of potential impacts on cost and availability of procured goods; take actions to mitigate risk.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to determine supply needs; partner with Product Development, Biz Dev, and Marketing to ensure initiatives are considered in the planning process and inventory is available, provide necessary support and technical expertise.
• Maintain an expert-level understanding of all active collections, components, and suppliers; develop purchasing, inventory and logistics strategies to ensure a successful and timely new product rollout and ongoing production.
• Cultivate strong and direct supplier relationships, including Domestic and International shipping/freight providers, operational excellence, monitor and report on quality and service KPIs, and promptly and effectively identifying and resolving issues.
• Oversee all materials / finished goods management: definition and maintenance of minimum stock levels, order recommendation / creation / acknowledgement / tracking / receipt, quality control, inventory turn and reconciliation, and root cause analysis for discrepancies. Prioritize inventory forecasting and modeling, order scheduling, inventory productivity optimization, quality data, and finished goods shipping to meet customer demands.
• Design, schedule and manage physical inventory audits and cycle counts: schedule, process, and tools to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Oversee the methodology, development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and systems to support all aspects of Purchasing, Inventory and Logistics management, including communication between internal and external partners to ensure accurate flow of information between groups, solution-oriented decision-making and timely action. Lead strategy to ensure plans are system driven and scalable. Maintain and/or establish relevant SOPs.
• Drive lean activities and continuous improvement initiatives. Create and action plans with defined metrics for optimal performance of all Purchasing, Inventory and Logistics activity. Recommend strategies promoting accuracy, agility, responsiveness, business continuity and resilience.
• Advance Supply Chain and Logistics related time and costs reductions through effective leadership, people and resource management, operational efficiencies, supplier management and cost negotiations. Manage data integrity.
• Implement sourcing contracts that allow for robust long term supply chain management while reducing material costs and lowering overall cost of goods and services.
• Enroll team members in new processes and initiatives to collect feedback and gain buy-in.
• Champion and promote adoption of change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Promote and support company policies and ensure compliance with Company and government safety regulations, provide feedback and training to team members when necessary.
• Reprioritize work to support the needs of the team or the business, escalate challenges in advance of missing calendar deadlines.
• Be a conduit of conversation, feedback and advocacy between team members and VP of Operations and escalate any issues that require additional support.
• Creatively problem solve for issues that impact your department, communicating proposed solutions to the VP of Operations and collaborating to a final result.
• Lead by example, create a work environment that promotes a high level of engagement and accountability, skill-building, efficiency, and communication, driving excellence in productivity and quality.
• Provide leadership and guidance relative to the day-to-day and strategic operations. Coach staff to achieve goals by clearly communicating the metrics by which success is measured in each area of the business, with additional focus on Manager development. Ensure training goals and objectives are met for newly hired associates. Provide thoughtful and regular professional development feedback.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Manages supervisors and managers in the Logistics, Supply Chain, Material Planning, Purchasing and Inventory Control Areas.
• Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
What You’ll Need to Have:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 5-10 years of Supply Chain and Logistics experience
• 3-5 Years Experience with Netsuite
• Proven ability to solve problems creatively
• Excellent analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
