Position Summary
The Director of Development will lead TCEI’s philanthropic strategy and build a sustainable, diversified funding base to support the organization’s mission and long-term growth. In this role, the Director of Development will be responsible for achieving annual and multi-year fundraising goals while implementing the systems, processes and infrastructure needed to effectively receive, manage and steward philanthropic gifts. In close partnership with the Director of Program Operations, the Director of Development will help align fundraising efforts with programmatic priorities and will collaborate on planning for the strategic allocation of funds and resources raised.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Build and actively manage a portfolio of individual, foundation and institutional donors and prospects
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors through all stages of the fundraising cycle
Successfully close gifts including outright gifts, multi-year commitments and planned or deferred gifts, as appropriate
Meet or exceed annual and long-term fundraising and performance goals
Create tailored proposals, gift requests and donor communications in partnership with leadership
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of donor activity, strategies and outcomes
Track fundraising progress and provide regular updates and reports to leadership
Partner closely with the Director, Program Operations on major donor engagement and solicitations and collaborate on planning for the strategic allocation of funds and resources raised
Prepare donor communications, fundraising materials and prepare fundraising-related Board meeting materials
Represent TCEI at donor meetings, events and cultivation opportunities, as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Nonprofit Management or related field preferred
Minimum 7 years’ experience in fundraising, development or related field
Demonstrated success managing a donor portfolio and closing significant gifts
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to and engage with a wide range of audiences
Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet goals in a mission-driven environment

The estimated annual base salary for this position is $160,000 - $200,000, commensurate with experience and skills. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and other incentive programs.
