Client Overview:
Our client is a growing nonprofit organization looking to add to their expanding team. They are now looking for a Controller.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$50/hr - $57/hr
Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial & Operations Officer, the Controller leads the organization's financial operations, overseeing accounting, reporting, compliance, internal controls, and team management. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities of the Controller:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all accounting and finance operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, operational efficiency, and a high-performing team culture.
Lead month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and presentation of financial results to leadership and the Board.
Oversee AP/AR, general ledger, payroll, grant accounting, reconciliations, fixed assets, and audit preparation while ensuring compliance with GAAP and funding requirements.
Partner cross-functionally with leadership and HR to support organizational planning, staff development, process improvements, and strategic decision-making.
Foster continuous improvement through coaching, mentorship, training, and professional development while promoting collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
Required Experience/Skills for the Controller:
Minimum 7-10 years of accounting experience.
Minimum 3 years of staff supervisory experience.
Strong leadership, organizational, and financial management skills.
Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
Knowledge of GAAP and compliance requirements.
Eligible for 2 days' work from home after an initial 90-day onsite training period.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Controller:
Experience working within a nonprofit organization preferred.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure required.
