Construction Staff Accountant

Job Description: • Execute monthly close processes, ensuring all costs are recorded or accrued and revenue is recognized accurately • Maintain general ledger integrity through timely journal entries and account reconciliations • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, including tracking outstanding items and recording fees and interest • Manage accounts receivable, including billing, collections, and customer deposits • Oversee accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely payments to vendors and subcontractors • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support long-term partnerships • Review and ensure the accuracy and quality of all accounting deliverables and client-facing outputs • Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, issues, and escalations • Partner with the Accounting Manager and/or Director of Finance, as applicable, to review work in progress (WIP), ensuring contract values, budgets, and change orders are accurately reflected • Validate revenue recognition aligns with percentage-of-completion (POC), including cost and billing accuracy • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and company information • Support ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required • 4–7 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required • Experience with commercial construction accounting required • Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles • Familiarity with tools such as Sage, BlueFolder, or similar construction/accounting software is a plus • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) Benefits: • Flexible, remote contract structure • Opportunity to support growing construction and professional service brands • Direct collaboration with experienced business leaders • Ability to expand responsibilities over time based on performance
