ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Community Development Advisor in Yakima, WA who is driven to make a positive impact on the employee and member experience. You are a strategic thinker with a bias for action. This person will serve as a thought leader on our team who can assist in our pursuit and maintenance of SCU’s CDFI certification in support of our mission in Central Washington. This is an exciting opportunity to bring forth new ideas and see those ideas come to life!
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Build relationships and networks with community members and organizations in Central Washington.
- Facilitate meetings and lead presentations and events that engage community members.
- Supports the operations of the Mobile Branch facility, assists with equipment and software updates, maintenance, service and repairs. Operates the Mobile Branch, including travel to designated locations and returning to admin building or garage each day.
- Flexibility and willingness to work varying shifts in situations where the Mobile Branch will be deployed at special events.
- Establish and maintain regular schedule for Mobile Branch locations and obtain required permits
- Required to conduct regular business development opportunities within the areas the Mobile Branch is located with the end goal of funding loans, new memberships, and partner referrals.
- Understand community needs in a manner that translates to internal advocacy towards products and services that meet those needs.
- Maintain accurate records on community development initiatives and outcomes.
- Deliver financial education programs and workshops to partners and community members
- Develop and maintain financial education materials, tools, and online resources to support member learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with other educators, financial institutions, and organizations to promote financial literacy.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of financial literacy programs for various target groups, including students, employees, and community members.
- Track client progress and outcomes, providing feedback and adjusting implementation of those strategies as needed.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of financial education initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with members.

- Supports other departments/branches as needed. This could result in a temporary or permanent assignment to another department/branch based on organizational needs.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Basic Qualifications:
- Six (6)+ years of experience in personal finance, financial planning, financial education, or a related field.
- Two (2)+ years of experience in business development
- Two (2)+ years of college or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to work with diverse populations and explain complex financial topics in a relatable and engaging way.
- Demonstrates a strong passion for helping others achieve financial well-being and literacy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), financial planning software, and other relevant tools.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish is a requirement for this position.
- Must complete and pass a credit-union paid driver training within 60 days of hire.
- Experience in, familiarity with, and comfortable driving large vehicles (40’ long).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience developing and delivering financial education materials or leading workshops.
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Working Conditions:
- This is a hybrid role with work performed remotely as well as in an office and/or branch environment in Central Washington. Community events are frequent and require in person presence that may expand throughout Washington State.
- Team members may attend special off-hour meetings and seminars.
- This role will regularly require working evenings and weekends, depending on business needs.
- The nature of work may include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
