CAD Designer / Mechanical Engineer — Contract Position (Gas System Design & Plan Check)
Justice Energy is looking to bring on a contracted CAD Designer or Mechanical Engineer to support a growing pipeline of multifamily and commercial projects involving centralized gas meter design, city plan check submittal, and SoCalGas coordination. This role requires strong drafting skills and a solid understanding of gas piping systems — an active PE license is a plus but not required.
What the Contract Role Involves:
Draft gas piping schematics, riser diagrams, and single-line drawings
Produce isometric drawings for city plan check submittal
Prepare gas load calculations per California Plumbing Code (CPC)
Produce clean, organized, inspector-ready plan sets
Coordinate with SoCalGas on meter sizing, pressure verification, and service upgrades
Respond to plan check corrections and attend city appointments as needed
Work alongside Justice Energy's field and permit teams to keep projects on track
Who Justice Energy Is Looking For:
Proficient in CAD drafting — able to produce and deliver drawings independently
Experienced in producing isometric gas piping drawings for city submittal
Familiar with CPC gas sizing methods and medium and high pressure systems
Experience with the LADBS plan check process is strongly preferred
Active PE license is a bonus and will be reflected in compensation
Comfortable working as an independent contractor on a per-project basis
