Our client, a fast-growing specialty retail chain, is seeking a motivated and analytical Assistant Retail Buyer to join their team in Grand Rapids, Michigan, US . This role is crucial in supporting the buying team in curating and procuring merchandise that aligns with the company's brand and customer preferences. You will assist in analyzing sales data, identifying market trends, and selecting products that will drive profitability. Responsibilities include assisting senior buyers with product selection, vendor negotiation, and order placement. You will track inventory levels, monitor sales performance, and provide recommendations for replenishment or markdown strategies. You will also conduct competitive market research, attend trade shows, and identify emerging product categories and brands. Preparing buying reports and presenting findings to the buying team and management will be essential.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Marketing, Business, or a related field, combined with 1-2 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or a related analytical role. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends are a must. Proficiency in Excel and experience with retail management software are highly desirable. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are required. A keen eye for product and a passion for retail are essential for success.
