The ideal candidate teaches ASL in high school, or at a college or community college, and can write to provide high school students with a solid foundation in the language. The candidate should have a vision of how students can learn and be assessed in the language through courseware. Courseware is delivered online to students attending virtual schools and it is a textbook replacement that supports what the student learns from an ASL teacher.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong skills in teaching and assessing receptive and expressive ASL, with an understanding of Deaf culture
- Fluent in ASL and proficient in written English
- Ability to disseminate language knowledge in writing
- Ability to create video scripts for sign language videos
- Skilled with creating engaging expressive and receptive activities to assess state curriculum and ACTFL standards effectively
- Expertise in developing role-plays
- Post-secondary ASL degree
- Deadline-driven
- Receptive to feedback
- Can work remotely as part of a larger team
- Open to using various tech applications - MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack
