Austin Film Festival furthers the art and craft of storytelling by inspiring and championing the work of screenwriters, filmmakers, and all artists who use the language of film and television to tell a story. AFF is dedicated to providing unique cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation and encouraging long-lasting community partnerships.
Austin Film Festival hosts a robust Script Competition, averaging 12,000 submissions from around the world annually. With a variety of categories to submit in, our goal is to support and uplift emerging storytellers, while helping new voices break into the industry. The competition readers’ job is to conduct a thorough evaluation and give thoughtful feedback to help writers elevate their work. Copy Editors read the evaluations that the readers provide and make sure the notes are ready to be sent to the writer.
Copy Editor Team: The ideal candidate for the Copy Editor Team is a detail-oriented individual that has amazing grammatical prowess and can complete approximately 10 one-page Reader Comments within an hour. This dedicated team will help the Screenplay Department by evaluating the reader comments that our Competition Readers provide to those who submitted to Austin Film Festival’s Script Competitions. As we are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, our copy editors are compensated for their work via a stipend.
All potential Copy Editors must provide a current resume and complete a thorough application and testing process before being considered as a Copy Editor. Copy Editors who are accepted are required to join our Copy Editor Onboarding Call, prior to receiving assignments.
