If so, then we have an exciting opportunity for you as an Acquisitions Assistant 2 in the Law Library at Yale University. As an integral member of our team, you will play a critical role in acquiring and maintaining the library's extensive collection of legal materials. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in library science or law, who is eager to contribute to the success of our renowned institution. Join our dynamic team and be a part of a prestigious academic community dedicated to advancing legal scholarship and education. Acquire and maintain the law library's collection of legal materials, including books, journals, databases, and other resources. Process new acquisitions, including ordering, receiving, and cataloging materials. Maintain accurate records of acquisitions and expenses. Monitor budget and expenses related to acquisitions. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and prioritize materials for acquisition. Conduct research to identify new and relevant legal materials to add to the collection. Evaluate and assess potential acquisitions to ensure they meet the library's collection criteria. Communicate with vendors and publishers to negotiate prices and manage orders. Work closely with other library staff to ensure efficient and accurate processing of materials. Stay up-to-date on current trends and developments in the legal field to inform collection decisions. Assist in the organization and maintenance of the physical and digital collections. Provide reference and research assistance to library patrons when needed. Train and supervise student assistants and other staff members on acquisitions processes. Attend relevant conferences and workshops to stay informed about best practices in library acquisitions.
