Accounts Receivable Specialist & Bookkeeper (Part-Time) - Remote | United States Our client is a premier boutique family law firm based in SoHo, Manhattan, serving clients across New York's five boroughs, Westchester, and Nassau Counties. Led by a highly regarded attorney with 10+ years of experience, the firm handles complex matrimonial and family law matters — divorce, child custody, property division, and more. They are a small, high-caliber team looking to bring in dedicated billing and administrative support to professionalize their financial operations and free up attorney time for client work. What You Will Do • Own the billing process end-to-end once attorneys finalize monthly bills: send invoices to clients, track payment status, and maintain accurate records • Follow up on overdue balances via email and phone — proactive, consistent collections outreach • Monitor trust and retainer account balances and send replenishment requests as needed • Manage and update client billing records in Clio (legal practice management software) • Support basic bookkeeping tasks: data entry, expense tracking, and financial record maintenance in Excel • Collaborate directly with the firm's principal and team to ensure billing runs smoothly each month What You Must Have • Must be based in the United States - this is a non-negotiable requirement • 2+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or collections • Comfortable making outbound calls and sending follow-up emails to clients regarding overdue balances • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel • Discretion and trustworthiness — you will handle sensitive legal and financial client data (SSNs, tax returns, retainer accounts) • Reliable, self-directed, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting • Bookkeeping experience - QuickBooks or equivalent Nice to Have • Experience with Clio (legal CRM and billing software) — strongly preferred • Prior experience working with a law firm or legal billing processes • Familiarity with trust accounting and retainer management Role Details • Fully Remote - United States only • * Part-time - approximately 20–40 hours per month (5–10 hours per week), flexible schedule • Potential to expand into a broader bookkeeping and admin role over time
