Position Overview
We are seeking 24 highly qualified part‑time lecturers to join the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing for the 2023‑24 academic year. Lecturers will teach undergraduate courses across mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering, and advanced manufacturing. Appointments are made from a pooled pool and are typically filled shortly before each term begins, offering flexibility and the opportunity to shape a dynamic curriculum.
Salary & Compensation
- Lecturer A (2 FTE): $4,530 – $6,056 per month
- Lecturer B (3 FTE): $5,405 – $11,994 per month
- Lecturer C (4 FTE): $6,190 – $13,172 per month
- Lecturer D (5 FTE): $7,794 – $13,797 per month
Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and the rank at which you are hired. Most new lecturers start at the Lecturer A or B level, with clear pathways for advancement based on performance and contribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality undergraduate instruction in mechanical, mechatronic, or advanced manufacturing courses.
- Design and update course syllabi, assignments, and assessments to reflect current industry standards.
- Supervise laboratory sessions, ensuring safety protocols and hands‑on learning experiences.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, including support for capstone design projects.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty across the three interrelated programs to foster interdisciplinary learning.
- Engage in professional development activities that enhance teaching effectiveness and subject‑matter expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Subject‑matter expertise in at least one of the department’s three focus areas (mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering, or advanced manufacturing).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching at the college level, preferably in engineering or technology programs.
- Advanced or terminal degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
- Professional engineering experience in industry, including hands‑on work with mechanical systems, robotics, or manufacturing processes.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE), or Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) certification.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English or other languages) to support our diverse student population.
- Experience with curriculum development, online/hybrid instruction, or experiential learning projects.
